Window Box

Is it possible to do a window box like this one on my existing garage window? Can you do it with the window attached like it is now, or would it have to be moved out?

Here is a picture of the current window:

I think it needs a new controller box.

I have a new Orbit controller on the way.

Big Tree Removal

treeThe big tree in front is eaten up with mistletoe, is dead otherwise and needs to come down. Branches are breaking off and it has become a safety hazard. I'm going to take down this tree and at least two more in the back and have them hauled off.

There is another group of trees way out in the back yard and the biggest one has split (for the second time) and needs to come down. The two surrounding trees are eat up with mistletoe and need to come down too. Oct. 2, 2020. I received a quote from Express Tree Trimming this morning that sounds like a good deal. They have insurance and they will be back next week to take down the trees and grind the stumps. The previous quote was $2,000 for this big tree in the front alone.

Oct. 3, 2020 The Express crew came over and did everything quite nicely. The tree is now gone.

Dirt Fill Ins

This will be a big, long-term project but I will get a lot of satisfaction out of it, it will look great and make mowing easier. There are many low spots in the yard. Some big and some small. The biggest is the former sand bunker in the back yard which will probably take 10 yards of dirt to fill and the smallest is some places around trees which would require less than a wheelbarrow full. On the parkway, there were 12 fruitless pear trees for over 20 years, but I pulled them up in 2014 or 15. Even though I have shoveled out dirt into the holes to fill them up, it still sinks down and it looks terrible. There are places all over the entire yard that need some filling in. To do this right, it would take more than one application over two summers, possibly even 3 of the next 4 years.

(3) 7-yard loads @ $320 per load. I may have to have some tractor help as well.

March 2021. It just needs to warm up a little, and I will get some sod and dirt. Still need to find a tractor man.
